Poolside Oasis sits beside the Costa da Caparica — a near-continuous run of Atlantic sand stretching south from Lisbon, backed by dunes and pine. It is the city’s favourite surf coast, yet far calmer than the Algarve in high season.
Fonte da Telha, the relaxed beach village at the southern end, is around 10 minutes away. Here you’ll find surf schools and board rentals, beach restaurants and esplanadas built right onto the sand, and long golden sunsets over the ocean. A bodyboard is provided at the villa for spontaneous beach days.
The beach breaks along Caparica work for complete beginners through to experienced surfers, depending on the day and the spot. Surf schools at Fonte da Telha and along the coast offer lessons, board and wetsuit hire, and guidance on where to paddle out.
Conditions are surfable year-round; autumn and winter bring the cleaner, bigger Atlantic swells, while summer is ideal for learning and longboarding.
Caparica is famous for its beach bars. Many of the restaurants sit directly on the sand, with palm-shaded terraces, fresh fish and seafood, and front-row seats for the sunset.
It’s the perfect end to a beach day: a late lunch with your feet in the sand, or sundowners as the surfers catch the last waves before dark.
